Like most teenagers during the summer, Sam, Danny and Tucker enjoyed going to the beach.

To a lesser extent, so did Jazz, who had agreed to drive them there and "supervise"; of course, that was quickly forgotten with the momentary cautions of Don't wander off! and NO GHOST FIGHTING!, and then Jazz was off to the marine biology museum with her notebook and trusty pink pen.

So they were left by themselves at the beach house to change. Sweet.

Except for the minute that Sam opened her backpack she could have sworn that tiny hearts erupted from it, along with a perfume so sickeningly sweet that she could have hurled.

"I. Am. Not. WEARING. THIS."

And so she grabbed her best friends' wrists, after closing her backpack ("Augh! The smell! How will I get it out?") and dragged them to the nearby swim shop. Then she deposited them on the benches while she went to go find something in something a little more dark.

Fwump.

"So, want to go swimming?" he asked conversationally. "Sunbathe for a while..."

Sam thought for a minute.

"Swimming sounds nice." Having moved into 'you are my prey and I am the huntress' mode sucessfully, she tugged him into the water, which, although cold, was not too cold.

So she dunked her head underneath and blew wet strands out of her face.

Danny dove into a wave and surfaced, spitting out salt-water, his black hair completely covering his face. He tried futiley to flip it out of the way.

Sam laughed so hard at him that she began to hiccup, attempting float on her back and failing.

Flying through the water was just as easy as flying through the air--there was just a little more resistance, and Danny pushed his hair back with his hand and sidled up next to her in the water, reaching out to hold her close.

They were just floating there, the waves lapping at them and covering them in spray, without having to swim.

"I'm cold," he said, by way of excuse. He did often get cold.

Sam smiled and leaned into him, feeling the tide rush up and down, down and up. Her hair floated around her in wavy tangles.

She wrapped her arms around his neck. "You're always cold."

"Not right now," he murmured happily in her ear.

"God," she murmured into his neck, and shut her eyes, smiling softly. "I don't ever want to leave this spot."

"Well, at some point we'll have to because otherwise we'll get all pruny, but right now? Yeah. This is, like, awesome."

She laughed softly and sighed, resting her head against his neck and pulling in closer. Now she really was cold.

He felt her shivering, and even though it felt really good, he rubbed his rather large clumsy hands on her shoulders and back to warm her up.

Then he kissed her forehead and then her mouth, hoping that would warm her up, too.

That did warm her up. And gave her a bad case of shivers that were not from the cold.

That kind of shivering was great, especially when she was pressed against him.

The way he kissed was always soft, testing, exploring. Rather like how he was a good deal of the time.

Sam loved that. Loved the testing. Loved that he was unsure and wanted to check first and didn't want just to take take take. Danny was careful and clumsy and awkward and... Danny. She got a thrill from him smiling at her.

Her mouth watered.

Sam was aggressive. Sam got what she wanted, and when she wanted it, and Sam didn't do anything by halves. Anything. Never had.

She hissed out some air from between her lips and teeth and took a soft, wet lick across the surface of the skin of his neck. He tasted like seawater.

Sam grinned, almost ferally. Yeah. She could get off on that.

His reaction to that was like a cat whose fur was stroked the wrong way, but entirely in a good way.

Danny made the sort of choking sound that a teenage boy would be expected to make if that had been done to them, and there was wide-eyed, utterly fascinated teenage boy admiration on his face for her daring.

"Sam!"

"What?" She asked coyly. Another lick.

Danny shuddered, in a good way, and it was entirely possible they were more buoyant in the water for a moment.

Then, starting to breathe harder, he pressed his lips to hers, pulling her closer to him for a deep kiss.

His hands, which were exploring the lines of her back, started to move south...

Now she was starting to get the other side of him, passionate and persistent...

"You didn't answer the question," Sam complained, shaking out her hair and arching her back gently against his touch.

"What?" he said vaguely, lost in the rush of blood to his ears, and elsewhere, when her back arched. Clumsy, gentle hands went down and cupped her bum.

"You didn't answer the question," Sam said calmly. "See, you said 'Sam!' and then I said, 'What?' and you just sort of... choked."

"Unnh," was the only thing he could say in response, as he started working on her neck with his lips and kneading his hands slightly.

"Note to self: remember to ask Danny why he said my name after he's not a raging pile of hormones."

She arched her neck at the sensation there. Yum.

The raging pile of hormones left one of his hands where it was, kneading away, fingers going lower to trace the bare skin of her thigh, and the other slid slowly up her side to her front.

Sam moved--

And then...

A huge wave, seemingly out of nowhere, crashed over both their heads.

Danny sputtered afterwards, his hair hanging lank in his face again.

"You want to go on shore?" he asked, hair still hanging there.
